View Full Version : GWAM - Won't accept forum login, doesn't save preferences.

So, I've downloaded GWAM, installed it, and I try to set my username/password. Every time it tells me I've entered a "Bad username or password."

I can log into the forums just fine, and browsing through this sub-forum I've found posts from back in March of this year, and then from January of 2006 before that, with people having the same problem, and them being told it was fixed after the change from phpBB to vBulletin.

In addition, none of my settings seem to be saved between launches -- the checkboxes to Upload WoW Cache, Upload Data, and Launch Game come up as unchecked no matter how many times I check them, and my preference for which loader to run after finishing GWAM.

Even if I were able to upload anonymously, I'd be happy, but the fact that I have to click 3 buttons *after* launching GWAM, then close GWAM and manually launch my preferred WoW launcher, makes it not worth bothering right now.

I'm really looking forward to being able to contribute my data, but until GWAM gets fixed, I'm not interested in the hassle it requires.

Thanks,

Hmm, I'll poke around and see what I can find.

Can you try mailing your copy of C:\Program Files\GoblinWorkshop\config.xml to cob@goblinworkshop.com ?

Oddly enough, simply running GWAM two or three more times and checking the Auto Upload and Auto Launch boxes each time seems to have automagically fixed the "saving preferences" part, but I still can't verify login details or save my choice of launcher. It also appears that GWAM is now saving my forum login, but obviously not the password as it can't verify it. I will go ahead and send a copy of my current config.xml -- I have, for the moment, disabled AutoLaunch via the GWAM interface, and config.xml reflects that change.

EDIT: config.xml has been sent.

I'm getting this exact problem from a fresh installation of the Goblin Workshop AddOn Manager, myself. (I uninstalled and reinstalled after 2.1.0 came out because for some reason, the AddOn for the game was telling me it was Out of Date, despite the fact GWAM is supposed to be updating itself every time a new version is detected, from what I can gather. Or maybe I have to run the updater every once in a while?

Well anyway, yeah... It won't let me verify my forum login for some reason.

Edit: The Goblin Workshop Data Collector AddOn still hasn't had its TOC updated, by the way. I'm assuming it's otherwise working just fine, though, despite being "Out of Date".

Heya Cob --

Just wondering if there's any news regarding GWAM accepting forum logins for attributed uploads? I realize you don't do this full-time, and I'm sure it isn't fun to be constantly hounded about something like this, but even a small note to the effect of "I know it's broken and I'm looking into it" goes a long way.

I don't know if you got my config.xml or not, I tried to make the subject line of the email relevant but spam filters these days block so much valid stuff...

Anyway, thanks for maintaining the app; I'm happy to submit un-attributed data for the moment if that's all I can do, but I'm looking forward to GWAM working fully again.
