I'm starting to get to the point where the Goblin and Gnomish engineering schools split, and I want a few opinions on the differences between them and what classes they're good for. I'm a hunter myself, so I'm partially torn between the two.

I think most of the mechanical fighters like the Compact Harvest Reaper and the Battle Chicken are Gnomish, which would add a bit more melee damage to you. Gnomish engineering is more Stat-inducing stuff like Shrink Ray and Cloaking device, right?

On the other hand, I always have the schematic for a Goblin Land Mine stored in the bank, and traps and explosives are always good for anybody to have. The Goblins do the bombs and such, right?

To be truthful, I'm still don't know that much about higher lvl engineering in general.

Hi Ofaloaf

I am now in the same predicament that you were when you started this thread. What direction did you choose in the end?

Being a hunter, I use my engineering primalrily for making guns and ammo. I make the odd explosive thing and fighting aid (explosive sheep, harvester, etc). At this point, I'm leaning towards Goblin engineering.

Is there a site available that lists all the tradeskills per branch?

I chose Goblin engineering in the end. I'm really not entirely certain why I chose it, I just.... did. So far it's turned out alright. My Goblin Construction Helmet looks totally awesome, and the bombs are great against two or more aggro'd mobs. I've already made one pair of Goblin Rocket Boots for some rich dapper mage, since they surprisingly don't require any engineering skill to use. (Really, I've checked!)

Also, despite what rumours may say, the Deepdive helmet is NOT a Gnomish-only engineering schematic.

Well this is my opinion:

Gnomish engineering:

You can make the battle chicken stays a few levels above you and when it gets enraged can do some insane damage, You can make the death ray which does from 700-2200 damage which is a very handy tool mithril dragon does 500 and lasts about 3 minutes just like the battle chicken but about 5 times stronger the mind control cap very handy for non priests.

I am a lvl 175 engineer and i will choose gnomish for those factors.

(my brother is also a gnomish engineer so that is how ive got these insights)
