I just got a new PC and on my old one, I had a mod/utility that basically let me target stuff from the mini-map. Anyone else use this and know where I can get it again? Very helpful tool.
Thanks.

That sounds awesome! I would love to have an add-on that did that! If you find out the name of it let us know!

Actually I think I found the add on. TrackerAssist
http://www.teammutiny.co.uk/wow/TrackerAssist.zip
Description :
DESCRIPTION
===========================================
With TrackerAssist enabled, clicking on a blip on the minimap will cause the corresponding unit to be targeted and information about the unit will be printed in the chat window and appear under the minimap. The information is color-coded (red=hostile, yellow=neutral, green=friendly) and indicates level of aggression for NPCs and faction for players (same faction is friendly while opposing faction is hostile). If multiple units show up under the mouse, then clicking multiple times will cycle through them.
For NPCs the information includes the name and level. For player characters it includes name, level, race, class, and guild name (if the player is in a guild). Note that this AddOn relies on targeting by name. Since NPCs don't have unique names, the targeting isn't as reliable for them as it is for players.
You can also turn chat announce on/off and control whether announcements are made to the party, guild, or raid channels. When enabled, track information will also be sent to the specified channel when you click on the map.
You can also enable the mouseover option which will cause the label under the minimap to display info just by mousing over the blips. The info is not printed to the chat window or sent to your party and the blips are not targeted until you click the mouse. Note that, for mouseover, if there are multiple blips under the mouse, the mouseover will only ever get the first one. Also note that when using mouseover, although your current target (if any) is preserved, the mouseover feature can interrupt your auto-attacking of an NPC or player. For example, if you're attacking an NPC and you have mouseover enabled and you mouse over some other blips, when you're done you'll still have the original target, but you will have stopped attacking.
Type /trackerassist (or /ta) to see current settings and available commands which can be used to modify the behavior of TrackerAssist. You can enable/ disable the AddOn as a whole, control whether mouseover is enabled, party announce, etc.
SLASH "/" COMMANDS (trackerassist can be replaced with ta)
===========================================
NOTE: you may want to create macros which run the below commands to allow you to toggle things on and off by just clicking a macro button
/trackerassist - shows current option states and list of available commands
/trackerassist enabled - toggles whether the AddOn is enabled
/trackerassist decay - toggles decay of the label under the minimap. when enabled, it only shows for a brief time then gets cleared.
/trackerassist announce - toggles announcement of track info on the specified chat channel
/trackerassist channel <chan> - sets the chat channel used to announce track info (must be party, guild, or raid)
/trackerassist mouseover- toggles whether mouseovers on the minimap result in the label below the minimap being updates to show info (without having to click the blips)
/trackerassist npccolor - toggles whether or not NPC text is color-coded based on the unit reaction to the player
INSTALLATION
===========================================
Unzip into the Interface\AddOns directory inside the WoW install directory. When done, you should have the following directory: <WoW Install Directory>\Interface\AddOns\TrackerAssist
The person who originally designed it seemed to stop doing updates so Plebo has taken the liberty to update it for us gamers!
Here's what he had to say:
Updated to "1.8"
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
OK, I have tried to contact the author, but no reply, so I guess that he has dropped the whole project. I will try to modify the addon to include easy additions, but as I am just a beginner at this I can't guarantee success. For the moment my modifications can be obtained from the following ftp:
http://www.teammutiny.co.uk/wow/TrackerAssist.zip
"1.8" contains the following changes:
-- workaround for avoiding double spamming of details
-- change to variable storage to allow for different chars (possible error with this that occurs first time, fine thereafter)
-- Includes PVP ranks details in the spam
I will look into moving the updated addon to a new page on curse-gaming. Please feel free to make suggestions.
Specific replies:
Dionyseus: I have changed the text spammed for NPCs to include the PVP rank. Currently this is the rank name, e.g. "Scout", though if there was interest, I could have it display the rank number aswell or instead.
Scarling: you can ignore the Out of date message, it works fine. I have updated the interface number so in this version it shouldn't give such a message. I have no knowledge of wowEcon I'm afraid.
Edit:
CurtisTheGreat (and all interested): Tracked the mouseover error down to what seems to be a bug in the way that lua/wow deals with nil values, i.e., sometimes it doesn't very well :/ Probably not an issue if you use default UI, as it seems to be a problem with the mouseover function picking up objects from Atlas/Gatherer. Fixed the issue (I hope). Version 1.8.1 available on the above link.

That's the one. I've found some that were a little different but basically the same. This is the one I had on my old PC though. This is an even better tool if you are on a PvP server.

Agreed. This is one of the first AddOns that goes into the Interface folder :)
This and Flexbar are "must haves" imho

What's flexbar if you don't mind me asking? :)
I use this one, loc add on, and gatherer. Always interested in finding nice add ons out there!

Yeah I've heard of flexbar but have no idea of what it is though.
Another good addon is one for my pet. It manages his focus so that he keeps aggro better. It also has a no chase mod in it. Basically if it is fighting a creature that decides to run, it breaks off it's attack and comes back to me instead of chasing off after the runner.

I'm not running any Addons yet, but that no chase mod sounds good. Where can I find it? I've died too many times when my pet drew aggro chasing things down.

I've found the "nochase" option for that addon stopped working after patch 1.6 :(
Anybody else have this prob?

I think that if you reload it, it will work again. I added it to my new system a week or so ago and it's working.
I'll post the link to the place where I got the addon later on. It's got a million of them.
