At times we hunt for food. At times we hunt for honor. And at times we hunt to earn the Earthmother's teachings.

But the hunt I now set upon you is none of these things. It is to slay a creature outside the Earthmother's blessing.

The hyena Steelsnap roams the Thousand Needles, south of the Barrens. He is a tyrant, attracting other hyenas to him and spreading fear and bloodshed among more peaceful beasts.

Find Steelsnap, (Name). Find him, and defeat him.

This guy is lev30 (elite) and has 2 friends. In addition, where we found him anyhow, adds will be a problem. Took him down with a grp of 3, (lev26, lev27 and lev28) two of us died but we got him :D

Edit: we found him North and East of Freewind Outpost; may have a very long wander path or the site map may need updating.

Know the area. The run back to loot/res was a long one. There does not seem to be a graveyard close to where you will find this bad dog.
Cob: He and his friends walk in a counter-clockwise loop, along the zone wall. You can see most of the loop on the gw map under the quest.

My tactic was to just set up shop along the wall, and clear out all the adds and wildlife, eventually he will come to you, and having cleared out the locals, you shouldn't have to deal with any adds.
Otyugh: Did anybody manage to tame it?
If so is it a good pet?

: Killed him by myself at lvl 29. Just focus your attacks on steelsnap don't bother with his buddies. Pickup the ribs as soon as Steelsnap dies. (His buddies will still be attacking you) It's fine if you die after, just as long as you have his ribs. Turn in the quest to Stonehoof at thunder bluff (hunter rise)
